Description: It is impossible to differentiate males from females for this species – at least by their exterior appearance.
A small (3.5cm) species, Hyphessobrycon haraldschultzi have a silver base colouration with a brilliant splotch of orange on and around their heads. An orange line continues from the splotch to the caudal fins, fading in brilliance to a dull orange by the end. The dorsal fin has a white base and tip, with a black filling.
They are a peaceful species and suitable to community tanks.
Diet: Use a balanced omnivorous diet to feed your Hyphessobrycon haraldschultzi: not only flakes and pellets, but small live or frozen foods as well (e.g. Artemia, mosquito larvae, or blood worms).
Breeding: There are no successful breeding reports in captivity. If truly desiring to try, follow the breeding method for other Tetras such as Hyphessobrycon duragenys or Hyphessobrycon arianae, amongst others.
Comments: Use a typical Hyphessobrycon tank set up: at least 35L, dense plantation around sides and edges, large open area for swimming in centre, and top floating plants to diffuse the light. They prefer a moderately-moving current. A dark substrate and dark plants will make the colours of Hyphessobrycon haraldschultzi stand out.

Recommended Compatible Species: They should live happily with other Tetra species (particularly the Neon Tetra and Black Tetra). They also should be good tank mates with Discus, Apistogramma‘s like Apistogramma Cacatouides and Apistogramma Borelli, Corydoras Catfish (particularly Corydoras Sterbai and Corydoras aeneus) Angelfish, Clown loach, the common Guppy and Platy and most Gourami (such as the Blue Gourami and Dwarf Gourami like the Honey Gourami) Also should live happily with most Danio (particularly the Zebra Danio and Pearl Danio) and also many Killifish could make great tank mates.
