Description: The Apistogramma Rositae will reach a maximum of 4 cm in length. It is a tiny, intricately designed fish which has 15 – 17 dorsal fins, 5 – 7 dorsal soft rays, three anal spines and 6 – 7 anal soft rays. It is a freshwater fish that thrives in a tropical climate. Apistogramma Rositae species have a preference for cooler water and are mostly confined to forest streams.
Diet: No actual information is available on this species, but a quality flake or smallish pellets should serve as its staple diet. You should feed it live food – blood worms, brine shrimp – on special occasions.
Breeding: Little is known about the breeding habits of this spawning species. Most Apistos eggs, on average, take 4 – 5 days to hatch, at which point the female will lead its fry out to gather food.
Comments: Decorate your tank with upturned pot plants, hiding spaces and area for this species to swim. You could house a pair of Apistogramma Rositae in a 15 gallon tank.
