Diet: The Aulonocara koningsi is a carnivore. Keep it sustained through a combination of flake and live foods.
Breeding: The female is a mouthbrooder. Male Peacock cichlids will spawn with multiple females; the female will house the eggs in her mouth until the fry are ready to swim.
Comments: Aulonocara koningsi cichlids inhabit mixed sand-rock habitats, so adjust your aquarium accordingly. Allow plenty of swimming space and hiding places for the female to spawn in. A 100 cm tank will provide enough space for this Peacock to flourish.

Recommended Compatible Species: Any gentle, mid-sized Malawian haps suit this species well. Avoid housing Aulonocara fish with aggressive Mbunas. Placidochromis, Protomelas and Otopharynx species should all be very compatible with Aulonocaras.
