Distribution: Aulonocara guentheri is a freshwater cichlid native to Lake Malawi and Lake Malombe, Africa. It has also been observed at Senga Bay.

Description: Male Aulonocara guentheri can reach up to 15 cm; females up to 14 cm in length. It is believed to now be a rare species due to overfishing.
Diet: Aulonocara guentheri is carnivorous and will accept live meats and pellet food as part of its diet. In Lake Malawi it will feed on small invertebrates living in the sand.
Breeding: The female is a mouthbrooder and should not be stressed during this period so as to avoid destruction of the eggs.
